چکیده

Detecting defects in grounded flat steel is essential for ensuring the safety and reliability of transmission tower grounding devices. However, traditional inspection methods, such as physical excavation verification, are costly time-consuming. This paper proposes a corrosion defect detection method devices based on electromagnetic ultrasonic SH waves. In addition, using commercial software, three-dimensional finite element simulation model with simulated pitting constructed. The specified displacements applied to multiple surface sources mimic horizontal shear vibrations generated by transducer during actual inspection. A was used investigate propagation attenuation characteristics shear-horizontal SH0guided waves various geometric configurations steel. investigated SH0 wave linear analysis results. results show that guided small, at only 0.0016 dB/mm, displacement amplitude echo signal decreases increase distance. Increasing depth length increases amplitude. At same time, width has little effect Finally, experiment conducted, experimental fit verify accuracy model. introduces new idea on-site quantitative identification steel, which significant reference value can provide more effective economical dependability

Simulation of Ultrasonic and Electromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation of Corrosion

The influence of corrosion on ultrasonic and electromagnetic nondestructive evaluation results has been simulated for 2-layer aluminum aircraft fuselage. Simulations have been performed with respect to ultrasonic time-of-flight measurements aiming on the detection of corrosion at the backwall of the first aluminum layer. Calculations of the eddy current probe response have been performed, where...

High Temperature Shear Horizontal Electromagnetic Acoustic Transducer for Guided Wave Inspection

Guided Wave Testing (GWT) using novel Electromagnetic Acoustic Transducers (EMATs) is proposed for the inspection of large structures operating at high temperatures. To date, high temperature EMATs have been developed only for thickness measurements and they are not suitable for GWT. A pair of water-cooled EMATs capable of exciting and receiving Shear Horizontal (SH₀) waves for GWT with optimal...

Electromagnetic Stirring of Steel: Effect of Stirrer Design on Mixing in Horizontal Electromagnetic Stirring of Steel Slabs

Electromagnetic stirring is widely used in continuous casting of steel as a means to improve homogeneity of cast slabs. Industrial experience has shown that stirrer design and operating conditions have a strong influence on the metallurgical quality of the cast slab. This paper examines the effect of the stirrer current and field frequency on the flow in horizontal EMS of steel slabs. A threedi...
